Connect SharePoint to sync files

How to connect a SharePoint site to your workspace and mirror folders into Aracor.

Written by Jona Smulders Cohen

You can connect SharePoint to keep folders in sync with Aracor. Aracor mirrors files one way: SharePoint to Aracor. Edits made in Aracor do not flow back to SharePoint.

Each teammate connects their own SharePoint. A connection uses your personal SharePoint sign-in, so Aracor only syncs files you can already access. Teammates who want to sync files repeat the same steps with their own account.

Connect SharePoint

  1. Choose Connect SharePoint and authorize Aracor to access the SharePoint site you select.

Pick the folders to sync

  1. Add a SharePoint folder to mirror. You will see file count, total size, and sync status as Aracor pulls files in.

  2. If sync stalls or you want to refresh, choose Resync.

What gets synced

Aracor copies the files inside the folder you choose, including subfolders. Files appear in your Documents view alongside any uploads. They are processed the same way as direct uploads (see Upload documents).

If you are asked to reconnect

From time to time you may see a banner saying a cloud drive needs re-authentication. This happens when your SharePoint sign-in expires or its access is revoked, for example after a password change. New syncing pauses until you reconnect, and files Aracor has already pulled in keep processing.

Click View cloud drives on the banner, or go to Settings → Connections, and choose Re-authenticate on the SharePoint connection to restore syncing.

Who can see synced files in Aracor

Aracor access is separate from SharePoint access. Once a folder is synced into a project, every teammate with access to that Aracor project can see and use the files, regardless of whether they have access to the original SharePoint folder.

Two consequences to keep in mind:

  • Only sync folders into projects whose members are allowed to see those files.

  • Removing a teammate from SharePoint does not remove them from the Aracor project. Manage Aracor access in Settings → Projects.
