When a file does not sync, and how to retry

What the Sync failed flag means, the file states you may see, how to filter for failed files, and how to retry a sync.

Written by Jona Smulders Cohen

Most files sync and process automatically. When one does not, Aracor flags it so you can see what happened and try again.

How a failed file looks

A file that failed shows a small red dot next to its name on the Documents page. Hover over it to see the reason, or "Sync failed" if no specific reason is available.

File states

As a file moves through Aracor you may see Syncing, Processing, Indexing, Organizing, Versioning, and finally Ready. Two states need your attention:

  • Error. Processing failed. The file is still viewable and downloadable, but it may not be fully searchable.

  • Ineligible. The file cannot be processed, for example an unsupported format, a password-protected file, or a corrupted file.

A file marked Blocked was stopped by a virus scan.

Show only failed files

On the Documents page, open the filter menu and turn on Sync failed to list just the files that did not sync.

Retry a file

Open the file's action menu and choose Retry sync. Aracor re-syncs the file from its cloud folder, and the menu shows Retrying while it works.

When a whole folder partly fails

For connected cloud folders, open Cloud sync in the footer to see each folder's status. An amber dot means some files synced and some failed; a red dot means the folder sync failed. The count shows how many of the folder's files are synced.
